At The Shearer's Cook Tavern, culinary delights await you. Imagine sinking your teeth into their scrumptious beef & red wine pie, where the rich, flavorful filling meets a perfectly flaky crust. Or perhaps opt for the vegetarian lasagne, a dish that showcases the café’s commitment to quality and presentation, delighting both the palate and the eyes. Customer experiences tell a powerful story of connection to this hidden gem. Just ask 'Bec B,' who fell in love with the delightful atmosphere and the food's deliciousness, or 'Jane Bout,' who found comfort during her coffee break, savoring the unpretentious yet satisfying offerings. Eddie Osh echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that this café is worth a visit, even without the allure of the neighboring museum. In the words of 'Kylie Byrne,' the warmth of The Shearer's Cook Tavern is especially welcomed on a chilly day, thanks to the remarkable staff and the delightful aromas wafting throughout. And let’s not forget the rave review from 'Adrian Martin,' who was genuinely impressed with the quality and presentation of the home-cooked meals, a testament to what this café accomplishes in a somewhat remote location.

The Shearer's Cook Tavern is not just a stop for food; it’s an experience—an enchanting blend of history, flavor, and community. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty meal, a quick coffee fix, or simply a cozy place to relax, this café promises to exceed your expectations. Lovely cafe with great coffee and menu. Worth a trip even if you don't go to the Mad Max museum next door.

We had the beef & red wine pie and vegetarian lasagne (off the specials menu). Both were absolutely delicious and beautiful presented. Just blown away by the quality of the food - particularly considering how remote the café is. Heartily recommended!

I’ve got to agree with the others here, a worthwhile visit for a coffee, food or a sneaky beer. People were very happily tucking into their brunches by the time I got here during my dog walk. Inside is a step back in time through the first room which is well presented with a walk through to the main seating area. You can also go along the side of the cafe straight into the seating area as well. The lady managing the place was lovely, very friendly. I had a cappuccino with bacon and eggs. Beautiful coffee, strong, rich, smooth, nice! The bacon and eggs were also great with a generous serving and 2 toast. I was very happy with my visit and lovely to eat on the front porch looking out over the amazing sight of Silverton. Also interesting to have ruins next door!
